Central Alternative School Level System Purpose
At Central you will be given the opportunity to earn extra rewards and privileges based upon your actions and attitudes. Central dollars are earned in classes and spent for privileges or lost through disciplinary actions.
How Dollars Work
- All students start at level 1 with 0 dollars.
- $5 can be earned each class period ($1 each for: On time and prepared, Staying on task, Respecting the rights of others to learn and respecting school property, Using appropriate language, and Promptly following all directions), for a total $25 each day.
- Occasional extra dollars may be earned for extraordinary acts of citizenship.
- You will receive Fines for Interventions and Suspensions
- You will have the opportunity to spend dollars for privileges
Procedure
- Students are required to carry a bank sheet all day from class to class. These will be filled out by the student under the direction of their DEAR room teacher.
- Towards the end of each class the teacher will inform each student of the dollars they have earned during the class and sign the sheet.
- At dismissal time (only when your bus is called)students will return bankbook sheets to their DEAR room teacher in the box on the door.
- Student will receive a new bank sheet the next morning with the appropriate total.
Rules
- You can only change Levels at the beginning of the day
- If you are absent or suspended no dollars are earned.
- Only $10 can be earned in ISS
- It is not possible to have negative dollars
- A lost or destroyed sheet will result in loss of all dollars earned up to that point that day.
- If you change your bank sheet, you will go back to Level 1-$0
Level 1, Yellow, Middle School 0-$450; High School 0-$325
Level 1 students do not have extra privileges.
Lunch is eaten in a designated classroom silently.
No Ice cream purchases
May not participate in special programs
Students attend behavioral management groups during group/club periods
Level 2, Blue, Middle School$451-$825 and High School $326 – $700 (HS)
Options available for groups/clubs
May participate in special programs, i.e. Blacks United For Youth, etc.
Assigned table seating in the cafeteria
Ice cream in cafeteria (must have sheet)
Gym privileges on designated days
Level 3, Green Middle School $ 826 and above and High School $701 and above
All level two privileges plus:
May sit at any table in the cafeteria- (Exception – HS must be at HS table and MS must be at MS table and No seat changing during the period)
Ice cream in the cafeteria (must have sheet)
Snack day
Movie day
Field trip
Pizza Parties
Ice Cream in the courtyard
Chinese food raffle
Weekly and monthly drawings for goodies from local businesses
Disciplinary infractions do include a greater dollar penalty
